The Social Component of Food

Take a look at it.
Along the way I decided that if I was to overcome the enemy within, I would have to attack it on many fronts, with herbs, vitamins,  baking soda and maple syrup, visits to naturopaths, and with diet and prayer and meditation. I stuffed everything down the barrel of the cannon and lit the fuse. But, it didn't take long for me to realize that the hardest thing for me to do was to attack it with a fork.

After I crossed the table to a vegetarian lifestyle I ran into a lot of unexpected problems.

Food is a central part of our social fabric.  We celebrate special occasions, with friends and family around food. How do you tell friends that when you visit them you won't eat the food they prepare for you. Or, in my case, I have had two family weddings in which I had a central place in toasting the bride and groom. How do you respond to your tired wife when she wants to have dinner in a restaurant after a day of shopping?

Do you want to know what  is guaranteed to bring tears to your heart? Try barbequeing steaks, hamburgers and hot dogs, at a summer party for your friends when they come for an afternoon visit?

Ok. Here is the journey I took.

I decided from the get-go, that it was too hard a journey to take.  So, I announced to my wife, family and friends that I would go along with the parade and eat what everyone else ate on certain occasions. I became a flexi-terian.  I would do my own thing at home, which was 90% of the time, but I would not make a big deal of it at other times. I would have a flexible lifestyle.

I have no doubt that are many people who take the baking soda - maple syrup (or molasses) route and take certain herbal supplements and there are lots of them out there, and they win the battle, without making changes to their diet.

I chose to attack the enemy within from every possible angle.

In my case, the price was higher then I anticipated. My wife wanted nothing to do with my diet. She refused to even consider preparing a vegetarian meal for me.  And not just that, she wasn't a happy mamma when I rejected her meals. Taking it a step further, when I began cooking my own meals, our meals were separately prepared and we ate at different times so we didn't eat together.

For me - food was second only to illness, as the hardest battle I had to face.  It took a lot of iron will and personal resolve to take charge of my life.

Reishi Ganoderma to the rescue

This video is a little longer then 6 minutes - but it will give you a good idea of the power of Reishi.
Reishi ranks high in my personal cancer fighting protocol.

I began to feel its effects within a few weeks.  It reduced sciatic nerve tingling, and tinnitus by 75% and in about 14 weeks time, both of these irritants had all but disappeared.

Reishi helps you sleep deeply and as every we all know, deep sleep enhances your body's ability to fight infections and illness. But, the best thing of all for me, was that within 6 or 7 weeks time, a second set of blood tests revealled that about 10 different blood cell counts made noticeable improvement - and my critical lymphocyte count doubled. All but one of my five 'low' blood scores moved into the normal range.

I have searched online to see how much to take if you have cancer. I eventually decided on taking 6, 500 mg capsules a day (but I take the cheaper black reishi mushroom capsules).

CANCER CURE BANNED by Government to enrich drug companies!

Did you note this:
DCA has passed stage one testing and they hope that it will be used in mass critical trials within the next year.  This video has been around since at least 2009.

Take a  look on the right side column. The Medicor Clinic in Toronto, is the first in Canada and the USA (and the only one I think) to administer DCA.

Beat Bowel Cancer

Ruthie's video can be found on You Tube. A rather sad story isn't it?  Its hard to imagine the invasiveness of the surgery she is about to have - if she hasn't already had it.   But did you see the card which shows why she isn't about to surrender?

Isn't that what its all about?

Have you a reason to overcome cancer?

Healed of Stage 4 Cancer!

I found this video on you tube, and I would be remiss if I didn't share it for this young lady joyfully shares of  how her cancer was defeated.

There is as common belief that cancer is susceptible to our belief system.  A friend of  mine, who is a retired pastor visited a young lady in a hospital. She was terribly ill with cancer.  He asked her if she would like him to lay his hands on the tumour and pray for her healing.  Within a few days, that tumour had shrunk by 50%.  The hospital sent her home and within a short time, her illness reversed and she didn't recover. But the point of this posting is - there are many people who are known to have recovered from cancer, through prayer, faith and trust in God's healing power

Ontario's Best Kept Medical Secret

Want to know Ontario's best kept medical secret?

I found this out when I booked an appointment with my family doctor for a consultation and possible  blood tests. He shipped me across the clinic to the nurse practitioner who worked in the same building. She was part of the local medical team.

She booked me a for a nice long appointment session and I talked with her about having cancer and my journey.  I rarely talk about natural treatments with my medical practioners.  Experience has taught me to keep my mouth shut.  My family doctor not only has a closed mind towards natural medical care, but is pretty dogmatic in putting anyone who raises the subject, straight.  But this time was different. She seemed receptive and genuinely interested in my 'personal protocol'.  So, I opened up.

I told her about taking maple syrup and baking soda.  She had never heard of it, so I explained the thinking behind it.  She listened attentively and even suggested that I put a pinch of ginger in it, for ginger, she said, has tumour fighting properties and maybe even tumeric for good measure.

At the end of our discussion, I thanked her and assured her that I would keep our conversation to myself.  "Why," she asked.

I told her that experience has led me to believe that people in the medical field are resistant to such subjects.

With that she said........."I am a nurse practitioner, and its in our mandate to discuss the extent of medical possibilities, and that includes chiropractory and naturopathy."

With that I asked her if I could count her to be one of my personal medical team. She smiled warmly and answered, "I would be glad to be included."

Interesting isn't it - that the Ontario College of Doctors and Physicians has such a strangle hold on the way we approach medicine in our province. But yet the Ontario Ministry of Health, in answer to public needs sidesteps the Ontario College and gives such a mandate to our nurse practitioners.

Green Tea - a natural cancer fighter.

Green tea fights cancer. The University of Rochester Health Science Centre issued a report in the Chemical Research of Toxicology, published by the American Chemical society.

Two substances within it are close molecular cousins to flavonoids found in broccoli, cabbage, grapes and red wine, that are known to fight cancer. It also produces valuable anti oxidents.

ECGC Shown to Halt Cancer Growth
The results of a study published in the journal Clinical Cancer Research demonstrated that men with prostate cancer were able to lower predictive markers of cancer progression by as much as 30%. Participants supplemented with 1.3 grams of green tea extract each day which is the equivalent of 12 cups of fresh brewed tea. ECGC has been shown to protect cells from DNA damage and can also inhibit new blood vessel formation that cancer cells need to proliferate.

Cancer - A Disease of Our Times

Cancer is a man-made disease fuelled by the excesses of modern life, a study of ancient remains has found.

Tumours were rare until recent times when pollution and poor diet became issues, the review of mummies, fossils, and classical literature found.

Moving Towards Your Goal Step 4 - What Not to Eat

Taking charge of your ship may be the hardest thing you ever do.  Are you one of those people who live to eat?

When I told a friend of mine that there are some foods that you are better off not to eat - he looked at me and said, "Then life's not worth living." End of conversation.  Try telling those who love you that certain foods are higher in priority then your love for them.

When I switched to the alkyline life style I turned thumbs down on a lot of things that gave me pleasure; deserts, sugar, cream, coffee, cola drinks, alcohol, dill pickles, certain processed foods.
My list of delights was long.

Consider this that a certain brand of cola, is so acidic that people pour it into their toilet bowls to clean the porcelain and it will strip the surface off a shining coin.  I recently read that it takes 30 glasses of water to neutralize the effect of a single glass of cola.

Do some research. Make a list of the most acidic foods and drinks, then determine which of these you can live without.

The Amazing Power of Reishi

Do Reishi Mushrooms  hold magical properties to cure cancer?  I won't say yes, but I will say that there are lot of people looking long and hard at this amazing little plant.  I have read on several websites that the Japanese have officially recognized this as a legitimate, cancer fighting protocol, and some websites claim that it is between 40 and 50% effective in killing tumours.

But that's just one of the amazing properties of this ancient health giving plant.

Check back to the December 30th posting and you will discover that this reishi, with other herbs were instrumental in "my normal"  poor blood cell counts showing a substantial improvement in about 2 months time. And, I only took one or two capsules a day and drank a big mug of gano classic coffee.

I pulled this information from another website
 - Reishi inhibits diseases by helping immune cells, (Natural killer cells and killer T cells
- Reishi increases RNA and DNA synthesis in the bone marrow where immune cells such as lymphocytes are made.
           - Reishi increases the strength and lifespan of white blood cells such as neutrophils
           - Reishi augments immunoglobulen G (IGg)
           - Reishi augments and/or modulates NK and killer T cell activity

And, in case you have an interest in this subject - I want to add one more detail. Once I discovered that the Reishi was working (along with the other items I took during the last 6 weeks), I have systematically increased my intake of reishi capsules (500mg) to 8 a day.

Moving Towards Your Goal Step 3 Take Control of Your Acid Level

Your journey has begun. You just learned that you have cancer.  You have taken the litmus test, and have discovered, no doubt, that every time you pee on the litmus paper that your body is consistently acidic.

If you are serious about attacking the enemy , you can take take control this. You can shift your body, naturally into the alkyline zone.

Its commonly believed  that tumours do not grow in an acidic environment.  Think about it. You can stop your tumour from growing. You can stop it dead in its track by becoming an alkyline host.

If you click on the list of alkyline and acidic foods in the right column of the blog you will open a webpage with pretty comprehensive listing of foods.  Are you up to the fight?

This may be the hardest thing you have ever done in your life.

Moving Towards Your Goal step 2

One of the things I did early in my journey was change from regular table salt to sea salt.  Its an easy transition, and its not even a noticeable change, but it has some overall health benefits. My reason for taking sea salt, is that most of the information I could find online, reports that sea salt is alkyline. Regular salt is acidic.  And since its critical to avoid your body being an acidic host for cancer its a small step in the right direction.

But, from what I have found, its best to cut back on the amount of salt you use. Its one of those things where less is more.  But...oh my, fresh vegetables are sure tasteless without a bit of zip to them.

You can check this out on the alkylinity list by clicking here.

CBC News - Wednesday January 4th. Cancer Chasing the Cure

'The National' CBC's news hour last night, ran a feature on Cancer Cures. The news item talked about undelivered hype such as that which surrounded Interferon in the 1980's.  But, it seemed that the news item was shallow and lacked research. They neglected the DCA discovery in the University of Alberta and the clinic in Toronto. There were no interviews with members of the Medicore team at the Toronto DCA clinic.

They also failed to mention promising research being done in the Research Labs of Ottawa's General Hospital. And, they neglected to step outside the fold into the work being done by Dr. Simoncini in Italy and the stories of thousands of people who have overcome cancer by taking alternative journeys.

They did, however touch on what natural treatment is already doing - and that is strengthening the body to heal itself.

The following excerpt is from the CBC website:
An area of cancer research that didn't deliver the expected short-term results now seems more promising — using the body's own immune system to do the fighting

Tumour-fighting soldiers

Immunotherapy was hyped by the media in the1970s and then largely forgotten by the public. Researchers studying ways to use the body's own immune system to fight cancer have continued their work.
Scientist Pamela Ohashi at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto is one of them. This spring, Ohashi said she and her colleagues hope to start a study on patients. It would be a first in Canada that uses some of the immune system's T-cells to fight cancer.
T-cells are a type of white blood cells that have the ability to specifically recognize a target, such as a flu virus.
In Ohashi's study, the T-cells, called tumour specific lymphocytes, come from a patient's own tumour. The experimental approach first treats patients with drugs to deplete their blood cells to give the tumour specific T-cells more room and nutrients to do their job. Then the patients own T cells were reinjected.

Fighting Cancer - A Good Place to Begin - step one

Ok. Let's begin.
You just got your diagnosis, and you're concerned.  You have your first appointment with your oncologist in a week or two and you want to want to know where you can turn in the meantime.
That's why I chose this picture as a starting point.  Its a roll of litmus paper, and its most likely available in your nearest health food store. That's where I bought this one. They sell for around $10.00.

Litmus paper, measures body acidity.  Its easy to use. You tear off a little strip of it, and you either pee on it or stick it in your mouth and dab saliva on it. Most places I have read suggest that you pee on it, since the liquid that flows out of your kidneys and bladder is not altered by whatever you may have put in your mouth in the last few minutes.

When your urine strikes it, give the paper an immediate shake and look at the colour of the strip.
It will change immediately.  The range of colour in the paper will change from yellow to blue.
The litmus paper I have comes in the plastic dispenser and it has a paper with a colour guide.  Your urine should measure around 7.2. This is the PH reading.  PH means the potential of hydrogen.  The lower the PH reading, the more acidic your body is. The higher the PH, the more akyline you are.

There are lots of websites that report that cancer studies show that cancer does not grow in an alkyline environment.  Dr. Simoncini, an Italian oncologist, kills tumours with baking soda. (see the video above this positng) and its about as alkyline a substance as you can get. After a lot of reading I shifted my diet by eating a  lot of green vegetables, and I intentionally removed acid forming things such as cola and alcohol and coffee from my diet.

Take some time, do some internet research on the subject.  Google "which foods are akyline", and you will find lots of information which will point you in the direction of shifting your ph level to where you want it to go.

Randy Pausch Lecture of a Lifetime

As you watch this video,  ask yourself, if you are as willing as Randy Pauch was to accept the immediate finality of cancer, or do you think, "Sure, death is the final solution to life.........but not right now, thank you."

When I hear Randy fatalistically say, "I can't do anything about the fact that I am going to die." and "Its how you play your hand," I find myself shouting "Yes, Randy.........but, when you play cards, you can always draw more from the pile and you can also discard and change your cards".

Explore your possibilities.
